Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
We respect your privacy at NetSpeedCheck (netspeedcheck.net). This page explains what data we collect when you use the site, what we use it for, who can see it, and how you can control it.
Data we collect
- Test results: download and upload speed, latency, jitter, packet loss, test time and the server used.
- IP address: used to estimate your country, city and internet provider, and to protect the site from abuse.
- Device information: device type (mobile or desktop), browser type, and connection type when your browser provides it.
- A random identifier stored in a cookie on your device, so we can show your test history without an account.
- Account data if you sign up: email, name, the plan you choose and your notification settings.
- Outage reports you submit and messages you send through the contact page.
How we use data
- To show your result and history and compare it with your plan.
- To publish aggregated internet speed statistics by country, city and provider, and network status.
- To send the reports and alerts you turned on yourself.
- To protect the site from fake tests and abuse, and to improve the service.
What is public
- A result link you share shows the test figures, provider and city — never your IP address or personal data.
- An official report is visible to anyone with its link; the email shown in it is partly masked.
- Statistics, network status pages and the API only show aggregated figures, never an individual test that could identify a person.
Cookies and on-device storage
- A random identifier cookie (for your test history) and a login session cookie if you sign in.
- Your preferences such as language, light/dark mode and server are stored in your browser only.
- Advertising cookies from ad partners (see below).
Third parties
- Cloudflare: protects the site and delivers it quickly; it handles requests that reach the site.
- Google Fonts: used to load fonts.
- Google STUN: used by your browser during the packet-loss test to set up the connection.
- IP location database (DB-IP): stored on our servers; your address is not sent to anyone to locate you.
- Google AdSense and ad partners: may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised ads in Google Ads Settings, or at aboutads.info for other ad vendors.
We do not sell your personal data.
Data retention
- Test results are kept for long-term statistics and stay anonymous after an account is deleted.
- Account data is deleted immediately when you delete your account.
- Reports and messages are kept only as long as needed to handle them.
Your rights
- You can delete your account at any time from the account page; your results remain without a name.
- You can ask us to delete a specific result or correct your data via the contact page.
- You can turn off the weekly report and alerts from your account page.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
